Ingredients:
- 1 box yellow cake mix (plus ingredients listed on the box)
- 2 cups milk
- 1 package (3.4 oz) instant banana pudding mix
- 1 package (3.4 oz) instant vanilla pudding mix
- 4 ripe bananas, sliced
- 2 cups whipped topping (like Cool Whip)
- Vanilla wafer cookies for garnish
Instructions:
- Prepare the Cake:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Follow the instructions on the yellow cake mix box to prepare the batter.
- Pour the batter into a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Bake according to the package instructions, usually about 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow the cake to cool completely in the pan.
- Make the Pudding Layers:
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the milk and both the banana and vanilla pudding mixes until smooth.
- Let the mixture sit for about 2 minutes until it begins to thicken.
- Assemble the Cake:
- Once the cake has cooled, use the handle of a wooden spoon to poke holes all over the cake, about an inch apart.
- Pour the pudding mixture over the cake, spreading it evenly and pressing it into the holes with a spatula.
- Arrange the sliced bananas evenly over the top of the pudding layer.
- Add the Topping:
- Spread the whipped topping over the bananas, covering the entire cake.
- Crush a few vanilla wafers and sprinkle them over the top for garnish. You can also place whole vanilla wafers around the edges for decoration.
- Chill and Serve:
- Cover the cake and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or overnight, to allow the flavors to meld and the pudding to set.
- Slice and serve chilled.
